Looking for that favourite recipe your mother used to make!!
Friday, January 12th, 2007If you are like me, I am always looking for my mother’s recipe for my favourite dish she used too make. Mine is Dumplings with cheese. I wrote it down somewhere, but when I need it, I can never seem to find it. I can not even buy the cookbook it was from, as I do not know which cookbook my mother got it from.
If you are looking for one of your mother’s favourite recipe books, check out our cookbooks by browsing by subject under Cookbooks, Cookbooks - Canadian and Cookbooks - Saskatchewan. We have cookbooks from charity organizations, vintage cookbooks, and many more.

Winter is Here!!
Wednesday, November 15th, 2006Today, here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, it has been blowing and snowing all day. It has snowed here in October, but it did not stay. This time though, I think the snow is going to stay.
Winter is here!!.
So, I thought I would check out our inventory and see if we have any books about Winter, and this is what I found:
- A Prairie Boy’s Winter by William Kurelek.
- Favorite Winter Stories by Fireside Al by Alan Maitland.
- If Winter Comes by A. S. M. Hutchison
- Lusty Winter by Max Braithwaite
- Strawberry Shortcake and the Winter that would not end by Alexandra Wallner
- The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder
- The Winter Book by Thad McIllroy
- The Winter Years: The Depression on the Prairies by James Gray

A favorite one of many children is The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Also, The Winter Years about the Depression on the Prairies sounds like an interesting book. If you want one with beautiful illustrations, check out A Prairie Boy’s Winter.
