This is a follow up on our other posts about the CPSIA. Effective February 10, 2009 the CPSIA law came into effect and there have been many blog posts and news articles written about it. We have found the posts at Overlawyered to be very imformative. You can also find information about the CPSIA at their website.

On February 10, 2009 we have added a Shipping Restriction for our Childrens Books, as follows: Effective February 10, 2009 Children’s Books will no longer be shipped to the USA. This change is being made because of the United States Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSIA). Countries and Territories included in the USA Region:

* American Samoa
* Guam
* Marshall Islands
* Micronesia, Federated States of
* Northern Mariana Islands
* Palau
* Puerto Rico
* United States of America
* United States Outlying Minor Islands
* Virgin Islands (US)

We have added “SHIPPING NOT AVAILABLE TO THE USA” to the description of the books effected by this shipping restriction.

It is already December 10th and Christmas is coming upon us very quickly. Many of the holiday shipping deadlines have now passed, see below:

• Austrialia - Surface - October 20th -Regular Air Mail - December 1 - Shipping Deadline Passed - orders will no longer arrive by Christmas

• New Zeland - Surface - October 13th, - Regular Air Mail - December 1 - Shipping Deadline Passed - orders will no longer arrive by Christmas

• USA - Surface - December 3rd - Regular Air Mail - December 10th - Shipping Deadline Passed - orders will no longer arrive by Christmas

• Canada: Surface - December 12th /ExpressPost - December 20th.

If you are ordering a book and the shipping deadline has passed, you may want to consider giving a card with a note that their book is on the way.

This past week has been a week of emails and questions about our shipping rates. So, I thought I would post this information here this week, just as a review.

When you are looking to purchase a book from us, you can review our shipping rates by clicking on the Shipping Tab at the top of the page. We have tried to make it as easy as possible for our customers to have all the information they require prior to purchasing their book, so that there are no surprises when you reach check out.

If you have any questions or concerns about the shipping fee for a particular book that you are looking to purchase, please email us prior to ordering the book so that we can address any and all of your concerns.

Shipping and Handling Fees

Please remember to review your shipping address prior to sending your order, to ensure all is correct. We would also ask that, if possible, you provide a telephone number with your order, as this tends to help orders get through customs quicker.

All our books are packed as follows:

• Hardcover books: wrapped in brown kraft paper, shrink wrapped and then covered with bubble wrap. Depending the size and weight of the book, either placed in a bubble envelope or a cardboard box.
• Softcover books: wrapped in brown kraft paper, backed with a piece of cardboard, shrink wrapped and then placed in a bubble envelope.

Canada

• Surface - USD $7.50 (Estimated delivery time: up to 9 business days to most destinations in Canada, except YT or NU, which take about 17 business days according to Canada Post)
• Extra Item - USD $2.00
• Air Mail - USD $15.00 first item - Extra Item - USD $3.00

USA

• Surface - USD $7.50 (Estimated delivery time: about 8 to 15 business days - EXCEPT for Alaska - 16 business days and Hawaii - 29 business days).
• Extra Item - Surface - USD $2.00
• Air Mail - USD $15.00 first item - Extra Item - USD $4.00

• Surface - USD $12.00 - Extra Item USD $7.00
  Estimated delivery time 30 - 60 business days.

Shipping rates quoted are for books weighing up to 1kg(2.2lbs). For books over 1kg (2.2lbs) and multi-volume sets, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.

So, if you want your order to reach you in the USA by Christmas and select Surface Shipping, you must order by at least November 22, 2007, OR, if you select Air Mail shipping, then you must order by December 9, 2007.

We have recently made some changes to our website.

• We have lowered our surface shipping rates - Canada - USD$4.50; USA - USA$5.50 and International- USA$8.00.
• Save on shipping when your purchase more than 1 item.
• All parcels shipped to customers in Canada and the USA are shipped with a Tracking Number.
• If you require your book shipped air mail, you will need to order using the cheque/money order order form (in the shopping cart), and we will quote you the air mail rate, based on your location. It is just too difficult to list a flat rate for air mail, as depending on your location and the weight of your order, rates vary far too much.
• New section - Clearance Items. Here you will find books that we have for sale.
• FAQ page - we have written a FAQ page to answer some of the questions we are frequently asked.
• Under our Shipping Tab you will find information on how we pack our books.
